Who must approve rooftop solar in Thailand?

Three main parts: (1) notify local authorities of building modification if the array exceeds 160 sq.m or 20 kg/sq.m; (2) apply for grid connection with MEA or PEA; (3) file an ERC license exemption if total inverter capacity is under 1,000 kVA. Today the utility forwards the ERC filing for you when grid-connected.

Do factories still need Ror.4 registration for rooftop solar?

No longer. The government now exempts rooftop solar from factory (Ror.4) registration and, in many cases, from building-modification permits — greatly cutting steps and cost.

Can home rooftop solar get a tax deduction?

Individuals can deduct rooftop-solar cost from income tax up to ฿200,000 per Revenue Department conditions, provided they receive a valid e-Tax Invoice from the installer.

Does BOI still promote factory solar investment?

Since 1 July 2025 BOI dropped solar-only projects and now emphasizes battery storage (BESS) at up to ฿12M per MW, while still supporting the EV industry chain and charging stations. So investments should be designed as blended energy systems rather than solar alone.
